Mobilidata
Technical documentation
Mobilidata is a program set up by several Flemish government institutions and supported by strategic research center Imec in Belgium. The program is funded by the Flemish and European government and uses innovative technological solutions to enable safer, more efficient, and sustainable traffic in Flanders, much needed to lower the number of fatal casualties in traffic on the one hand, and to reach international sustainability goals on the other.
Mobilidata focuses on co-creation of technological solutions with policymakers, businesses, researchers, and road users. In a public-private cooperation, the program deploys intelligent traffic light controllers to optimize traffic flows, and to service specific road users, like emergency services, with a priority green light. Furthermore, Mobilidata assists road users with personalized traffic advice and warnings.
In the deployment of these services the key is trustworthy and high-quality data. Mobilidata aims to set the standard high to enable more data driven mobility solutions in the future.
Vehicle-to-Vehicle
Enabling communication between vehicles on the road. Like ADAS is a default for realtime setup in cars, Mobilidata is a default for soft realtime communication between cars.
Vehicle-to-Infrastructure
Enabling communication between vehicle and infrastructure. For instance prioritising emergency vehicles at traffic lights.
Pedestrian-to-Infrastructure
Mobilidata is not just for vehicles, but for all road users. Pedestrians, cyclist etc are all part of the ecosystem.
